In Honor of Juneteenth Consider a Donation to a Top-Rated Black American or Civil Rights & Social Justice charity

    Jun 16, 2023

Juneteenth
(the abbreviation for “June Nineteenth”) commemorates the day when federal
troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and
ensure that all enslaved people be freed. The troops arrived two and a half
years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth honors the
end of slavery in the United States and is regarded as the longest running African
American holiday.
