Colombia Earthquake: Top-Rated Charities Providing Aid

    Aug 26, 2026

CharityWatch announces a list of legitimate, efficient, and accountable charities providing emergency relief and humanitarian assistance to victims of the devastating earthquake in Colombia.

On August 10, 2026, a powerful magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck western Colombia, causing widespread destruction across the region. The earthquake has killed more than 300 people, injured thousands, destroyed or damaged tens of thousands of homes, and displaced thousands of people.

The department of Chocó, one of Colombia’s poorest and most geographically isolated regions, was particularly hard hit. Damage to roads, airports, hospitals, schools, homes, and other critical infrastructure has complicated efforts to reach affected communities. Some remote areas are accessible primarily by river or air, creating significant challenges for organizations attempting to deliver food, medical care, shelter, clean water, and other emergency assistance.

The full extent of the devastation will not be known for many weeks or months.
