Independence Day is celebrated each year on July 4th and has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941. The tradition of the July 4th holiday goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. From 1776 to the present day, July 4th has been honored as the birth of American Independence and a symbol of American patriotism.
